My makeup always looks terrible. Help?

Okay, so I'm still not sure of the cause, (my skin isn't dry or extremely oily), but whenever I wear foundation/powder, it always makes my face look cakey and powdery during the day. I wear primer. I've actually tried 3.(Benefit Porefessional, MAC Matte Gel, and Bare Escentuals Prime Time) But it doesn't help what so ever. I've tried different types of foundations and concealers and none of them make my face any less powder/cakey looking. I have moderate acne, but I don't know how it could be doing anything. I don't know what to do. Please give me some tips/help?
